عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ:
'An abī 'abdir-raḥmāni 'abdillāhi-bni 'umara-bni-l-khaṭṭābi raḍiya-llāhu 'anhumā qāl: sami'tu rasūla-llāhi ṣalla-llāhu 'alayhi wa sallama yaqūl:
On the authority of Abu Abdur-Rahman Abdullah, the son of Umar bin al-Khattab (RA), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:
"بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ:"
"Buniyal-islāmu 'alā khamsin:"
"Islam has been built on five [pillars]:"
شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إلَهَ إلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ،
shahādati al-lā ilāha illa-llāhu wa anna muḥammadan rasūlu-llāh,
testifying that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,
وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ،
wa iqāmi-ṣ-ṣalāh,
establishing the prayer (salah),
وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ،
wa ītā'iz-zakāh,
paying the zakah,
وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ،
wa ḥajjil-bayt,
making the pilgrimage (hajj) to the House,
وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ.
wa ṣawmi ramaḍān.
and fasting in Ramadan.
