Rejection of Evil Deeds

عَنْ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُمِّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم: "مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ." وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ: "مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ." رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَمُسْلِمٌ.
Pronunciation
'An ummi-l-mu'minīna ummi 'abdillāhi 'ā'ishata raḍiya-llāhu 'anhā, qālat: Qāla rasūlu-llāhi ṣalla-llāhu 'alayhi wa sallam: "man aḥdatha fī amrinā hādhā mā laysa minhu fahuwa radd." Wa fī riwāyatin limuslim: "man 'amila 'amalan laysa 'alayhi amrunā fahuwa radd." Rawāhul-bukhāriyu wa Muslim.
English
On the authority of the Mother of the Believers, Umm Abdullah Aisha (RA), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "He who innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e., Islam) that is not of it, will have it rejected." In another version by Muslim, it reads: "He who does an act which we have not commanded, will have it rejected." Related by Bukhari and Muslim.
